Go back to Gmail's older version

Several days ago, Gmail began to release its newer version. The good news is that it provides minor improvement about Contact and others. The bad news is some Gmail-related extension (e.g. better Gmail) or Greasemonkey script did NOT work. So, I have to go back to older version before better Gmail release new compatible version.

Hmm, Gmail provides a link at the top of right corner to let users go back to the older version ( mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1 ), but the change is not persistent; you will still see the new version when you re-open the Gmail box.

So how to solve this problem? To customize the Gmail button on the Google Toolbar.
Many ppls like to click the gmail button on the Goolge Toolbar to go into their Gmail box including me. So I customize the button:

Click on the Google Toolbar, then choose manage. Then click the Gmail buttons under the submenu of Buttons. Select the "Edit" on the right site as following:

Toolbar

Then click "Use the advanced editor" in the opened window. Find
"<site>  </site>" in the opened window and replace with the following line:

<site>http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1</site>

Click "Save to Google Toolbar" to save the customization.

Now your Gmail button is modified to open the older version of Gmail. You will find "better Gmail" work now.
